The "Day Tripper" to the "We Can Work It Out" of "A Song Free of Trouble", in another words a contrasting A side on this double-A-sided single. The inspiration is partly a fantasy of The Ex covering Edit Piaf's "Hymne à l’amour", and partly affection for Leonard Cohen's bilingual take on "The Partisan" by Anna Marly and Emmanuel d'Astier de la Vigerie (and Hy Zaret for the English adaptation).

Also, some of the lyrics may prompt curiosity or assumptions. For interest, this song is one that was written over the course of several years (they tend to come together all at once or very slowly) and was completed sometime in 2018. This recording goes back to early 2019 but has only been shared previously through its entry in a music competition that spring. The images are considered more as timeless and arise from consideration of a range of relatively common and longstanding expressions as much from any specific or contemporary circumstance.
